About the Property
Our charming log cabin is built in the classic Southern “dogtrot” style, featuring sleeping quarters at each end connected by an open breezeway. Originally constructed on the banks of the Cumberland River in Cloyds Kentucky, The Dogtrot was relocated to the Texas Hill Country in 1997. For 10 consecutive years, it has been awarded “Outstanding Quality” by Historic Accommodations of Texas.
The property is entirely smoke-free, ensuring a clean and comfortable stay.

We stayed at AB Butler's Dogtrot - Cumberland Suite for three nights in late summer. The suite was the perfect amount of space for my husband and I. We arrived to a clean suite, which was decorated beautifully. Our favorite part of the experience was getting the opportunity to see wildlife just about every time we were outside. The deer were just right at home in the front and back yards. We took a short walk down Triple Creek Road and were able to see turkeys, more deer, and cows. We felt these accommodations really made our visit to Fredericksburg absolutely perfect!
Fredericksburg Escapes was also very helpful when we arrived to town right after a flash flood. We could not cross the bridge at Triple Creek due to the flood waters rising, but they provided an alternate rental in town for us to stay in if we opted to not wait for the waters to recede and cross the bridge. Fortunately the water receded, and we were able to stay at AB Butler's Dogtrot all three nights.

A step back in time with this unique dog trot cabin! Loved the setting , constantly surrounded by deer. A true historical gem!Very quaint and cozy! Almost perfect but for the inadequate AC.

We loved everything about this property. The rustic old feel charm, watching the deer in the morning and evening, the bed was comfortable and it was close to town.
The owner was amazing and super sweet.
The only down side was the water pressure in the shower, we just like the water pressure strong as that’s what we are used too.
